Limited Capacity seats available

One of the popular trends in educational technology is the movement to one-to-one learning environments. Having an improved effect on students and learning, regardless of the device chosen (laptop, iPad, tablet, or BYOD) requires planning, supervision, training, and change. This session will look at one-to-one implementation from the points of view of both administration and classroom teachers. We will discuss research on one-to-one learning, transforming teaching and student learning through additional opportunities, resources and techniques—like flipped classrooms, mastery learning, and project based instruction—that are made possible in a one-to-one environment. We will look at planning for implementation (including surveys and analysis) and professional development for teachers (including types of training and duration) and support for users and the technology. We will also discuss transformative technology use rather than the domestication of ed tech, and share considerations for sharing information electronically with students, including those without home Internet access.

Objectives:
1. What does research say about the one-to-one learning environment model?
2. What new types of teaching and learning are possible in a one-to-one learning environment?
3. What are some ways to plan for a one-to-one implementation?
4. What are some staff training needs and ways to plan professional development in a one-to-one learning environment?
5. How can Schoology help facilitate a switch to a one-to-one learning environment?
