I am a middle school band director with a passion for creating a skills-based, student-centered learning environment. This year I have investigated ways of incorporating data-driven instructional practices into my daily routine. I have integrated Schoology into my band courses to allow students to move at their own pace. Students also use Schoology to determine their level of content acquisition. Moreover, rubrics are used to measure student performance against target learning objectives. Additionally, I serve on the School District of Monroe’s grading and assessment committee, where we have been actively researching best practices in formative assessment and standards based grading practices.
